There is no better second movie than the first one
I still remember seeing pirates: bandits that went to the sea. It was expected that it was the first pirate movie in Korea. And I was also curious about how this management style, which always comes out, would go to the sea. The movie wasn’t that great, but I think it was worth it. And I watched this movie because I heard that there was a The Pirates : The Last Royal Treasure on Netflix. The movie theater was released on January 26th, but I think it was released on Netflix in early March. However, it was a movie that I could feel that there was no second movie better than the first one. The movie, which was released in 2014, was a hit with 8.66 million viewers, so this movie also had high expectations as it spent as much as 23 billion won on production costs. However, the result was only 1.29 million, far below the break-even point of 4.5 million. I tried to increase the number of audiences by aiming for the Lunar New Year holiday, but I failed. Of course, it was because of the aftermath of COVID-19, but there were so few audiences that I thought it was too much. The difference between the main actors was Kim Nam-gil and Son Ye-jin in the first film, and Kang Ha-neul and Han Hyo-joo in the second film. I don’t think there’s much difference in the main character’s acting skills. I think that’s why it was quickly released on Netflix and released on other streaming services. The running time is 126 minutes and you can watch it freely through streaming as it is open to viewers aged 12 or older.
Somewhere between the Caribbean pirate and the dress
The Pirates : The Last Royal Treasure k movie is like a movie inspired by the American blockbuster series Caribbean Pirates. It’s bound to be similar in terms of subject matter and the genre of adventure. Pirate: The bandit that went to the sea gave a lot of freshness by trying a genre called adventure that is hard to find in Korea. But that freshness was bound to diminish in the second installment. There are a lot of elements to look at. A column of fire rising in the sea and terrible lightning strikes from the sky. These visual effects are quite spectacular. I used CG very well with high quality. There’s a strong color, a huge scale, an exterior element, and a trace of trying to make the most of each individual character’s charm. And the action scenes that they’re showing on the ship and on the sea are pretty cool. The action-oriented sound effects and background music combine well to make it very exciting. Kang Ha-neul, who calls himself Joseon’s No. 1 sword, and Han Hyo-joo, who starred in the pirate troupe, seem to fall short of the charm of Kim Nam-gil and Son Ye-jin in the previous film. However, I think Kwon Sang-woo, who plays the role of Buheung-soo, showed off his charm by playing his role well, even though his tongue is still short. And the actor I want to compliment the most in this movie was Lee Kwang Soo. As the movie unfolds, it clearly shows its own charm. Lee Kwang-soo’s comic acting shone the most in the movie, where this cheerfulness is the basic base. The scene where you act with a CG penguin at the end is the funniest.
It’s a movie with good CG, but it didn’t make a hit
The overall atmosphere and scenes of the movie were mixed with a modern feeling, and the continuous U-QUE and sometimes charismatic actions were mixed to make the audience feel like they were on a ride. Maybe it’s more like a Japanese cartoon dress, not a Caribbean pirate. Most of these features show the composition of good and evil, and this movie also has a happy ending. The movie itself is very noisy, and it feels like a season movie aimed at the Lunar New Year holiday. The Pirates : The Last Royal Treasure K movie is a holiday comedy. It was a movie that had enough to see with fantastic CG quality for a little over two hours of running time. However, the director’s directing and the writer’s scenario are quite disappointing. The director of the first movie was Lee Seok-hoon, and the director of this movie is Kim Jung-hoon. The writer of the play is Chun Sung-il. The production and scenario are very poor for this expensive movie. The lines are so boring that I feel sorry for the hard-working actors that they are very upset in search of charm. I just have to do my best. Think of it as a season killing time movie and watch it lightly.
