The novelty of the material is the best. Song Jae jung, who specializes in genres that cross time and space, always makes us wonder what dimension the next will bring to the drama. W is a story that connects the real world with the world in the cartoon, which is a completely different dimension to further development in “Queen Inhyeon’s Man” and “Nine: Nine Time Travels.”
The play begins with variables in characters who move according to the set values given by the author, the creator of the world in the cartoon and the “God.” The first time was that Kang Chul, the main character set as a strong-illed character, was so strong that he survived without even being convinced that the author was trying to kill him. After that, Steel refused God’s instructions according to his will and created his own world. It doesn’t matter how that was possible. Since the genre of the drama is fantasy, the poor and contextual explanation of the main character’s “will” is enough to persuade the viewer.
The setting where people in real life and characters in cartoons cross through the tablet of the cartoonist is very interesting. The characters’ willingness to deviate from the set value and the conflict between the contradictions and the contradictions that do not comply with God’s instructions that gave the set value to protect the set value and the feeling of life through the overthrow of the events.
In addition, as the characters in the cartoon realize the contradiction of the world, unexplained things happen. The character Oh Yeon-joo suddenly appeared and disappeared, and the real criminal could enter a heavily guarded station without a trace and kill people, and falsely accused Steel by killing the head of the headquarters alone with Steel, and made the fake voice file on the day the steel family was killed. Kang Cheol said he returned to reality after spending two years in cartoons to protect the W world. Then, how were the unexplained things that happened earlier explained? The accusation that Kang Chul killed the head of the headquarters is cleared by writer Oh Sung-moo’s e-mail to the police, saying, “The whole story of the case.” There were only two in the hospital room, and there was a strong motive for the murder that the head of the headquarters had evidence that steel was the real culprit of the incident 10 years ago, and when a bullet stuck in the head of the headquarters was lodged in his heart, Steel had a gun in his hand. How are they all explained? I chose not to explain the play. Because I couldn’t explain.
Steel’s explanation that he returned after spending two years in prison to protect the logic of the world in the W world where logic has already disappeared is somewhat ridiculous. The setting that writer Oh Sung-moo goes crazy without being able to distinguish between the real criminal’s persona and his real persona was interesting. However, it is somewhat contrived that even though steel has already killed the real criminal, Oh Sung-oo acted contrary to the role given because he could not perform the duties of the villain. Can Oh Yeon-ju be happy with steel in the real world, leaving her father in remission? Oh Sung-moo is the author who created the W world. Was it wrong that the protagonist was afraid to act on his own will and tried to kill him? What was Oh Sung-moo’s sin, so he had to meet his end like other villains? Oh Sung-moo should have returned to himself by winning the battle between the real criminal and his own identity chaos. The end of the disappearance of Oh Sung-moo is a setting that does not fit in the context of the story that advocates power and punishment.
This can also be a personal appreciation (although the whole story is a personal opinion, especially…)) Why don’t I get excited… I have a good feeling for both Lee Jong-seok and Han Hyo-joo, and I think the two actors’ facial combination goes beyond bad. Surprisingly, however, their romance is not exciting at all. The drama “Twenty-five Twenty-one,” which recently ended, caused viewers to resent the main characters by compressing their dating time into 1~2 episodes and causing them to break up. Why did I want to see more of their romance? And why wasn’t W’s romance satisfactory even though it showed a lot?
To find the reason for it, it can be seen as the difference in the process of accumulating romance narratives. “Twenty-five, Twenty-one” showed the happy scene as if it were compressed after putting all the effort into explaining why the main characters had no choice but to fall in love and how important they were to each other.
On the contrary, <W> often shows them dating. Honestly, I’m coming out sick of it. They date regularly even when the identity of the dimension is shaken and the villain is aiming for their life, and they get rid of the romance “homework.” It’s so full that it even imagines a happy scene. But the context of why they fell in love is poor. It is understandable that Oh likes steel. But why did Kang Chul like Oh Yeon-ju? Is it a charm that tastes like a disease? Confession of love and nude show without context? The inner description is also cross-sectional. I think I’ll shake when I hear “I love you” one more time… And it’s really shaking.
